Meet

Dan MacDonald

For the past 30 years Dan MacDonald has been coaching and teaching across Alberta, Western Canada and the Northwest USA. From highly successful AAA Midget programs (Red Deer and Strathmore, Alberta), to developing winning Junior A programs (Olds and Okotoks, Alberta), to a Tier 1 head-coaching assignment (Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL) to a powerhouse college program (Red Deer College Kings), Dan has developed the mentoring and training philosophy that has become “The Coach’s Edge.”  Rounding out Dan’s coaching talents is his commitment as an educator, looking for and being successful in challenging assignments in remote communities and with kids that others had given up on.  A great story-teller and an effective communicator, Dan enjoys success as a conference and banquet speaker and has been a contributing writer for Hockey Canada. Dan has been married for over thirty years to his wife Betty and they have a son, Kurtis, presently in law school.
