-Alberta Major Midget Hockey League (AMHL) Coach of the Year 1994/95
-3M Amateur Hockey Coach of the Year 1993/94
-Provincial Amateur Coach of the Year 1993/94
-Sportsman of the Year Hines Creek, Alberta 1992
Achievements
-2015 AMHL South Division Champions (Provincial Finals slated to begin March 21st 2015) This is the first time in 10 years that the UFA Bisons have made it out of the first round, much less to the fourth round finals
-Red Deer Midget AAA Chiefs never made the playoffs in 12 years prior to Coach MacDonald taking over the team – 2 years later 4 national Midget AAA appearances 2 silver -2 forth place finishes at the Canadian Midget AAA Championships
-Red Deer College Kings had not been to the finals in 10 years when coach MacDonald took the team his first year to the finals and a regular season championship.
-Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL hockey league went from 68 points to 96 points and Coach MacDonald was awarded coach of the year.
